Tibetan Children's Treasure-in-Exile is a bilingual magazine published in Tibetan and English that raises awareness of Tibetan culture, Buddhism, language and history among young Tibetans in exile. This publication aims to cultivate cultural awareness for all Tibetan children growing up in exile, since they are separated from direct experience with their homeland. The magazine also focuses on modern issues, such as science and technology. The easy-to-read format also includes children's contributions in the form of articles, paintings, traditional handwriting, comics and so forth. Tibetan culture and language are currently under threat in Tibet due to the systematic repression by the Chinese. Tibetans in exile also face cultural pressure in India, as the children are constantly exposed to both Indian and Western cultures. Children's Treasure aim is to preserve Tibetan culture, while being open to traditions from other countries to maintain a balance of cultures and languages.
